Backlogs

These are all backlogged about a week. There’s a bit here. I’ll split them up. Some of the info is repeated from my first post.

January 7th-9th
Looks like I am keeping a journal of the “remake Paul” program that I am doing. I’m not sure how it is going to work out but I am more afraid of disappointing Flo (trainer) than I am at disappointing myself (awww). Seriously though, my trainer has helped me through a lot of adversity in the last few months. I asked him the other day about something to train for. Sure, I have personal and fitness goals that I want to meet but I really wanted “something to train for”. One of my friends has really gotten into great shape and he is running all these crazy races in towns that I have never heard of. We have had conversations that mirror my horrified feelings:

Me: Man, I don’t know about this race thing.

Chris: C’mon man it’ll be a good time. It is fifteen miles of mildly discovered wilderness in Headpain, New York.

Me: Well what does it entail?

Chris: You get a small backpack with a kitten picture on it, two left gloves, four small almonds to eat and a bottle of Jack and then you run!
Me: I think I’m good.

Needless to say running these types of races are not for me. They work for him though and I am a huge fan of all he has accomplished. I really don’t run much at all, unless something is chasing me, which is like twice a week. I actually don’t mind running but it has been a very long time and my knee strength is not complete yet. Maybe one day I can do one of those races but not yet. This really left me thinking about what I could do to make a training venture happen.

I went in for my regular Thursday training session at LA Fitness in Stamford with Flo. I asked him if he had any ideas about what I could do to fill this void I have when it comes to my fitness. We brainstormed for a little while and we came up with a “Before and After” program. As long as I show some results then the LA Fitness will back this program that we are doing. After I left he went and spoke to management and they all thought it was a great idea and could be some great publicity for all parties involved. The second we agreed to do this Flo upped my weights and told me I was in deep trouble and that I was not allowed to enter a donut shop without written consent from him. Geez man, all I wanted was a cocoa.

I had a few requests to go through with Flo before I went head first into one of these programs and the main one was that I needed a specific diet. For it to work it has to be very regimented: Day 1- do this, Day 2-do this, Day 6- cry aloud as the bad music infiltrates my veins, Day-7, sleep all day. If I get wiggle room with the diet I will not follow it correctly. It needs to be strict so there is no way I can wander off. The first thing Flo said to me is that there is a cheat day per week on this thing. I am changing the words “cheat day” to “fat day”, so if any of you see me pigging out give me a look and say “Fat Day?” and I will nod in agreement as I digest the silverware that I have eaten.

Do you know tough it is to compute that eating more will help you lose weight? Try and tell someone who is trying to lose any sort of poundage that they need to eat MORE in order for that to occur. If a trainer is reading this please explain this in detail to your trainee’s. They need to know why this is.

So that’s my deal. I’m trying this thing and I am putting it out there for all to see. I am starting to love the gym again (it has been a long time). I’ve got the next three months to start making myself look better and as long as I have the support of friends, family and trainer I should do very well.
